Easy Way To Be In The Video
Things You Need To Know Before You Get To The Studio
A few items to help your video shoot go smoothly and stress free!
Be Prepared – I know this sounds simply, but a few minutes of preparation before you start taping will make things go easier on you., and the staff, and the editor and the …. Ok you get the picture.
When you prepare you can be in and out of the studio in no time.
ü Know what you are going to say before you get to the recording studio.
ü Some people can read straight from a script and not miss a word, others can’t. Find what works best for you.
ü Make cue cards out of poster boards if you need too. Cue cards you can SEE and READ from 7ft away.
(And they are a lot more fun than a teleprompter!)
ü Practice and rehearse with someone.
ü Get a stop watch and time yourself. If the video is to be 45secs long and you have 5 mins of verbiage, something needs to be cut.
ü Less is better.
ü Rehearse again in front of a mirror. At least 10 times. I’m not kidding.
Clothing
Most video studio recording are done with a green screen. Keeping this in mind, don’t wear green. It’s not easy being green.
What To Wear For Men
ü No solid white shirts. Unless covered by a jacket.
ü No tiny dots.
ü No tiny stripes.
ü No super bright colors. Unless that’s required.
ü Dark pants are best.
ü Dress for your part.
ü Bring several shirts and ties.
What To Wear For Women
ü No solid white shirts or tops. The exception is if they are textured or trimmed with lace. A textured appearance is best.
ü No tiny dots.
ü No tiny horizontal stripes.
ü No large strips.
ü No super shinny material. (If it reflects light like a disco ball then there is an issue.)
ü Super thin clothing needs something under it. Studio lights are bright. If you wear a thin blouse please make sure you have the appropriate under clothing.
ü Go easy on the jewelry. Anything that distracts from your face takes away from the video. Jewelry compliments the outfit.
ü If it rattles take it off. Multiple bracelets are generally the culprit.
ü Long earrings can sometimes hit the mics.
ü Bring make-up and several changes of clothes.

The bandwidth values are indeed an issue of FMS (the servers that Cloudfront runs). Wowza is better in that regard, but there’s bee improvements in FMS sub-versions too. Perhaps CF US is on versions 3.5.3 and CF EU is on 3.5.2?
Regarding the framedrop increase, this could be something inside the player. Do your reliably get these issues? Is it also just the case with JW Player? This can be tested e.g. by grabbing Flowplayer or the built-in testing tool advertised in the sidebar of the AWS Cloudfront product page. If it is JW, we can investigate what’s going on (some MovieClip loop that’s leaking memory?
